I remember first coming into consciousness seconds after my transformation. I remember falling. The twisted woman known as the Vampire Duchess of Rhodes dropped me from a cliff after drinking me of all but just enough blood to keep me awake for my fall.
My new vampire body survived the fall, as she anticipated. The pain was excruciating. And the sun was quickly rising.
My only salvation turned out to be the witch's greed. She had recently used this same trick but on mostly drained humans whom she did not turn. Broken bits of flesh containing thimbles of blood was my first meal.
I managed enough strength to slide a few human bodies on top of me. While the bodies of my fellow vampires dried to dust in the sun, I was shielded and gradually gaining the power I needed.
By nightfall my new body had healed enough that I could stagger to a local farm to get a real feast from the cattle there. And the farmers.
I spent another few days feasting at different farms in the area and getting used to my powers. I must have known something about vampires before my transformation, as I became acclimated quite rapidly.
I was ready for my revenge.
[[Continue|aluca_4]]Armed only with my teeth, my claws, and my lust for revenge, I tore through the witch's guards with ease, ripping off limbs and heads. I have never known fear as a vampire, but by the looks on their faces, that is not a universal trait.
The hag evidently had grown comfortable with having her guards protect her. She fought like it was her first time in a hundred years. It was disappointing.
I was happy to take some of her torture ideas to heart.
It was early winter. I put her under the awning of one of the sheds in the castle. I put iron steaks through her legs, her arms, several spots on her torso, her neck, and one right through her forehead. The first day, her toes would be out of the shade of the awning. And every day after that until the hot summer sun finally got to her head, I woke each morning in my new castle to the sound of her screams.
Few emotions in a vampire are as powerful as the satisfaction of revenge.
