So Modis the elf - because that's what they called him.. <<timed 2s>> He was so short that his head smelled of footstool! <<next>> He was so fat, that when you saw him from afar you thought there were many peaple coming! <<next>> He had big ears that clapped when the wind blew from behind! <<next>> But he had two brilliant and bright green eyes and a a warm heart. <<next>> I forgot to tell you that he also had tremendous strength, although his appearance did not give it away... The elf was going around the forest and trying to approach the animals and make them his friends. His plan was to get all the animals together and have a big party to say goodbye to the good weather, before they each retreated to their dens to face the winter. <<timed 2s>> But they avoided him and often mocked him: <<type 60ms>>\ Modis, pin your ears!! Did you leave your ears unbuttoned again? How are you doing? The golden summer passed. The melancholic autumn was flowing fast and winter was approaching to throw its icy blanket over Chestnutland. Most of the animals were preparing for their long winter sleep. They knew that in such weather it would be difficult to find food and warmth, and the best they could do was to shut themselves in their nest. <<timed 2s>> Modis looked at the sky and saw the last migratory birds leaving for Huhulocland - that's what they call the warm country in Africa - which will host them for the winter. A little later Modis the Elf met an Ant colony working actively. The ants were spending this fine autumn’s day drying the grain that was collected in the summer time. A grasshopper nearby, perishing with famine, earnestly begged for a little food but the ants, rather rudely, drove him away. They seem to have an argument. Modis started to look inside his backpack for tools that could help him clean the avalanche infront of the bear's cave. Inside the backpack was a <<include "CyclingTools">>. He also found a rope that would be usefull. [[He got to work|page 39]]
